Saint-Gobain Weber Türkiye accelerates its growth with the inauguration of its 7th plant

Saint-Gobain Weber Türkiye’s 7th plant in Turkey inaugurated in Diyarbakır

November 28, 2024, Saint-Gobain Weber Türkiye’s 7th plant was inaugurated by Hady Nassif CEO for Saint-Gobain Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East cluster and Aykut Aydoğan CEO for Saint-Gobain Türkiye in Diyarbakır, in the presence of esteemed stakeholders and local authorities in the region including Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu.

This new production facility of 6,200 m2 of closed area established on a total land of 25,000 m2,will have a production capacity of 200 kT/ year as a first phase and will be dedicated to the manufacturing of a broad range of adhesive mortars, joint grouts, cement-based plasters, ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System), and flooring solutions, and will enable Weber Türkiye by being closer to its customers in terms of addressing the needs of Southern and Eastern Anatolia regions.

Following the inauguration, Hady Nassif CEO for Saint-Gobain in Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East reemphasized on the remarkable contribution of Türkiye to the overall growth of Saint-Gobain group. A number of strategic projects have been initiated by the group since 2020. They comprise  mergers, acquisitions and capital expenditure into new capacities. The industrial investments made by Saint-Gobain are intended to serve the local market needs, especially in the Eastern part of the country, but they also open the way for a promising export activity. Hence benefiting from the unique location and added value that Türkiye brings to the world trade bridging continents and seas. 

Aykut Aydoğan, CEO for Saint-Gobain Türkiye added “We prioritize our responsibility to society and the environment by going beyond our business processes in our operations, and we aim to become more competitive with every investment we make and to increase our service quality by being closer to our customers in the region. We produce by considering sustainability principles and performance criteria. By offering innovative solutions to the market, we become a reference point in the sustainability transformation of the construction sector and act with a sense of responsibility towards the environment and society in every field we operate. With the solar panel investment we plan to realize, we will be able to provide a large portion of our energy with lower carbon emissions. This is one of our exemplary approaches. In addition, our plant will also contribute to the local economy by providing direct and indirect job opportunities in the region.

Saint-Gobain has been operating in Türkiye since 1998, runs today 21 manufacturing facilities across the country and holds leadership positions in insulation, gypsum, and construction chemicals. Saint-Gobain currently employs around 2050 people in Türkiye.

This new plant is in line with Saint-Gobain’s “Grow & Impact” strategy aiming to both strengthen the Group’s leadership and accelerate its growth by enriching its range of solutions for light and sustainable construction.
