Saint-Gobain’s First Multi Comfort House in the Middle East Breaks Ground at Masdar City
In the presence of HE Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Ludovic Pouille, French Ambassador to the UAE, Pierre-André de Chalendar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Saint-Gobain, and Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), conducted today’s foundation stone laying ceremony.
The Multi Comfort House at Masdar City is one of 30 similar projects around the world. It is the first in the Middle East and a hot region anywhere in the world.
On completion at the end of next year, it will demonstrate Saint-Gobain’s patented technology aimed at improving health and well-being by optimizing the human experience within the built environment.
According to the Multi-Comfort philosophy, homes that are more comfortable make for happier and more productive people, and are more sustainable as a result.
A world leader in the habitat and construction sector, Saint-Gobain will further increase its UAE presence through the Multi Comfort House, as well as raise awareness of its innovative solutions addressing the challenges of sustainable construction, resource efficiency and climate change.
New Collaboration between SAINT-GOBAIN Middle East and OBERMEYER Middle East
SAINT-GOBAIN the World leader for habitat and the German Architecture and Engineering Consultant OBERMEYER are planning a strategic partnership.
As a first milestone OBERMEYER Middle East will design and supervise SAINT-GOBAIN first MultiComfort House in the MENA region.
The project will be located at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi and constraints the latest innovative and high performance solutions of SAINT-GOBAIN in combination to the highest sustainable standards.
The Multi-Comfort House is meant as a living showcase of SAINT-GOBAIN, sustainable solutions, inspiring to design & build energy efficient and comfortable spaces.
The ground breaking will be taking place in May 2018 and the completion is planned for end of 2019.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, January 19, 2017 – Saint-Gobain, will bring its innovative and sustainable solutions to the United Arab Emirates with the construction of an energy-efficient “Multi–Comfort House” in Masdar City. Set for completion in 2019, the project will be the first of its kind for the company in the Middle East.
The agreement was finalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Masdar City between Mohammad Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, and Hady Nassif, General Delegate of Saint-Gobain in the Middle East.
The collaboration between Masdar and Saint-Gobain follows a busy year of construction activity at Masdar City, which saw agreements for around 400,000 square metres of new real estate either signed or approved, including the recent launch of Masdar City’s Eco-Villa prototype, a pilot project incorporating water and energy-saving technologies.
Currently, more than 900,000 square metres of Gross Floor Area (GFA) in Masdar City are either complete, under construction or have a firm development agreement in place. This will include private homes, schools, hotels and more office space, not forgetting its community infrastructure; specifically, the roads, utilities and public spaces that make up the development.
